In Remembrance: People, Times, & Places shows the work of forty-nine artists from the United States, Canada, and Europe: artists’ books, photography, textiles, and sculpture. Some work is personal and honors the deceased. One book asks us to compare ourselves now with who we were as children. Other work highlights remark- able people like historian and journalist Delilah Beasley, or foreclosures in Detroit, or tragedies in the first world war. Some work asks us to consider the ephemeral qualities of language or of ideas. Finally there is work that shows mending: our attempt to repair loss, to repair what is torn away from us. In all, it’s a show that asks us to consider that time, inseparable from everything, causes change and loss, and how we respond to that.
