Artist Books are a wonderfully diverse genre and my work is much the same. I'm fascinated by structures and boxes, both traditional and invented. Most of the books included here have some unique sculptural or spacial element to them.

THIS IS A SERIES COURSE / FOLLOW UP SESSIONS WILL BE ANNOUNCED

This is a demonstration based class. Learn the basics of creating your own handmade paper with exotic fibers from your garden, grocery, and the local florist. From the harvesting and collecting stage to finished sheets, we'll learn the process for preparing unique fibers (such as grasses, vegetables, fresh herbs and flowers). Students will receive a pre-cooked and prepared packet of 2 fibers to form sheets of paper, with the option to purchase more or prepare their own after the course. There will be a follow up session for students to show off the papers made and discuss further sessions and fibers available.

Students in this class will be provided with a descriptive handout and materials list in advance of the class to allow students to work on their own after the demonstration.

PLEASE NOTE: Students should EITHER purchase a starter kit from the instructor (deckle box, couch sheets, pellons) OR have a deckle box / mould & deckle papermaking set-up already in working order. Anyone interested in speaking/emailing before class to confirm what they have will be adequate is welcome.
